Alec Baldwin, who had been previously charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter for a fatal shooting accident involving a cinematographer on the set of ‘Rust’, is now off the hook, as the charges have been dropped.
His attorneys, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, released a statement saying that they were “pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin” and encouraged a further investigation of the tragic incident.
Although reports indicate that former armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed may have her charges dropped as well, the prosecutors maintain that her charges “remain unchanged”. There will be a virtual status hearing this Friday in Santa Fe.
The Associated Press has reported that production on the film will be resuming soon, after a difficult period of 18 months. Baldwin will be returning, but is still facing an uphill legal battle. Filming is slated to take place in the Yellowstone Film Ranch in Montana, as reported by The Vulture.
