Arnold Schwarzenegger has a great deal of affection for Bruce Willis.
Recently, Schwarzenegger spoke with CinemaBlend about his friend and fellow action star. The former governor of California was asked about Willis’ retirement due to his health. “I think he’s fantastic,“ Schwarzenegger said of Willis. “He’s been a huge star for years, and I believe he’ll always be remembered as a great star and a kind man.“
Last year, the Willis family announced that the actor would be stepping away from acting due to a diagnosis of aphasia, a condition that can impair communication, according to the Mayo Clinic. Since then, his family has shared that Willis is dealing with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), which is an “umbrella term for a group of brain disorders that primarily affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain.“
Schwarzenegger stated that he understood that Willis had to retire due to his health, but “we never really retire“ as action heroes, they simply reload. Willis turned 68 in March.
