It was a heartbreaking moment on Tuesday when it was reported that Cash App founder, Bob Lee, had passed away at the age of 43. Earlier that day at 2:35 AM, Bob had made a desperate call to 911, after suffering multiple stab wounds outside a luxury apartment complex in San Francisco’s Rincon Hill. Although emergency help was called, he succumbed to his wounds at the hospital.
This tragic event has left many perplexed and brokenhearted, especially for those who knew and worked closely with him. In a statement released to CNN, Mobile Coin’s CEO, Josh Goldbard, paid tribute to the deceased, “Our friend and colleague, Bob Lee, left this world too soon. He will be missed dearly by his loving family, friends, and colleagues.”
This shocking occurrence has put a spotlight on San Francisco law enforcement as random homicides have skyrocketed by 20% since the start of the pandemic. At the time of his death, Bob was the Chief Product Officer of Mobile Coin and was embarking on many new ventures in the tech world.
In response to the incident, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk voiced his concern over San Francisco’s weak stance against violent offenders. He tweeted, “So many people I know have been severely assaulted and, even when caught, violent offenders are often let out of jail with no repercussions. Does San Francisco have a plan to lock up these criminals for longer, Brooke Jenkins?”
