A Netflix spokesperson has told Deadline that the streamer is proud of the work done by the cast, crew and those involved, and that the series brought the story to a satisfying end, giving justice to all the main character storylines. Sex/Life stars Sarah Shahi, Margaret Odette, Mike Vogel and Adam Demos, and it centers on the complicated love life of a woman named Billie… and unfortunately, Netflix has made the tough call to end it.
Netflix has expressed pride for the showand actors, and also saw the series reach a happy and natural conclusion.
The show, which was created by Stacy Rukeyser and based on the book 44 Chapters About 4 Men by BB Easto, was designed to take a captivating look at female desires and it follows the intricate love triangle between a woman, her husband, and her past. Suspicions were first aroused when the lead actress Sarah Shahi revealed on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast that she had landed the lead role in an ABC pilot titled “Judgement” and gave a candid account of the difficulties she faced with the second season.
“I definitely did not have the support that I did the first season,” Shahi explained. “I’m not going to put it [the show] down, but I definitely did not have the support that I did the first season from the people involved in the show,” she continued, concluding, “I’m never gonna work for Netflix again now after saying all this.”
Rumors are circulating that Shahi’s negative statements are what led to the decision to cancel becuase it happened so shortly after.
