On Wednesday a tragic crash occurred between two Black Haawk helicopters during a training exercise in Kentucky. The crash left 9 servicemen dead.
The incident happened at about 10 p.m. and involved two 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) HH60 Black Hawks on a routine training mission. They were practicing medical evacuation drills and the crash happened in between.
The helicopters landed in a field near a residential area with no injuries on the ground, Brig Gen John Lubas, the 101st Airborne deputy commander, said. One helicopter had five people aboard and the other had four, Lubas said.
Last month, two Tennessee National Guard pilots were killed when their Black Hawk helicopter crashed in Alabama during a routine training mission.
