The U.S. Department of State is celebrating NATO’s 75th anniversary by hosting more than 30 officials, scholars, and security experts from NATO member and aspirant countries for a special International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). This initiative, running from October 21 to November 1, 2024, will allow participants to engage in key discussions on the future of the NATO Alliance, particularly following the July 2024 NATO Summit in Washington, D.C.
During the program, participants will travel to Washington, D.C., Annapolis, Baltimore, Norfolk, and Colorado Springs to meet with U.S. experts on military and security strategy. These discussions will cover a range of topics, including how to counter modern threats like disinformation and cyberattacks, while exploring U.S.-NATO military coordination and U.S. domestic support mechanisms such as the National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program.
Among the highlights of the exchange are meetings with representatives from the U.S. National Security Council, the Department of State, the Department of Defense, the U.S. Congress, and various military commands. The program will also include insights from organizations like Business Executives for National Security and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
The IVLP, which is the State Department’s flagship professional exchange program, continues to play a critical role in strengthening global partnerships.
